We believe environmental responsibility is our responsibility. We do our part by participating in The Master Builder's Association BuiltGreen program and the government-backed, ENERGY STAR® program.

We build BuiltGreen Certified Homes

The BuiltGreen mission is to promote environmentally friendly home building methods and practices, and to enhance communities through leadership in sustainable development.

What does this mean for YOU?

A BuiltGreen certified home guarantees your home was built with the following in mind:

Energy Efficiency
We use less lumber, more insulation, advanced caulking to promote airtight structures, high efficiency water heaters and strategic location of pipes, insulated piping, energy efficient windows, energy efficient appliances.

Indoor Air Quality
We install low pile and less allergen-attracting carpets and padding (installed by tacking instead of adhesives), low VOC and low toxic interior paints and finishes, mechanical ventilation to keep outdoor pollutants from coming into your home and to prevent moisture from migrating into structural cavities...

Conserving Natural Resources
We use sustainable resources such as fiber-cement siding and engineered woods, we enforce "green" habits throughout the construction process by recycling scrap materials to decrease the amount of materials going to our already filled landfills...

Water Quality Protection
We've reduced the impervious surfaces (hardscape) to help reduce runoff, we install low maintenance landscaping...

We encourage you to do your part.

We build ENERGY STAR® Certified Homes

ENERGY STAR® was created to help consumers save energy and money, and help protect the environment.

What does this mean for YOU?

Reduced Utility Bills*
More Value Per Square Foot
Healthier Indoor Air
Low Maintenance
Comfortable and Quieter Homes
Independently Tested & Certified
Enhanced Resale Value

* Typically, the cost for upgrades needed to meet ENERGY STAR® requirements are about 1% to 3% higher than the cost to build simply to meet code. However, monthly energy savings from these building practices result in energy bill savings each month, so you, the homeowner, enjoy savings from the first month of ownership throughout the life of the home. Refino Homes provides these ENERGY STAR® "upgrades" as our standard package, at no additional cost to you.

Healthy Eco-Friendly Paints

Occupant health should be a primary concern when choosing an interior paint. While paints no longer contain lead, most interior paints still emit noxious vapors which can cause nausea or dizziness. New paint formulations are available which eliminate these health concerns. These paints are "Low Emitting", meaning that they contain virtually no volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other additives that create health problems. These low VOC paints may be applied directly over existing paints.

LEED Certification Home Painting

LEED is the acronym for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. LEED Certified Homes have met a rigorous set of standards for sustainable and eco-friendly design. Builders of LEED Certified Homes understand green building practices and low VOC paints are always part of the interior requirements. Progressive minded people recognize the benefits of applying LEEDS criteria to their residential or commercial interiors.

When achieving full LEED Certification your dwelling is eligible for tax credits and earns the admiration of your community.
